Just a couple of weeks ago now, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing the wedding of Cloe and Charlie who tied the knot at the Leicester City Registry office.
As always, yours truly arrived nice and early ahead of time, ready to capture the smattering of guests arriving and to scope out the surroundings for potential spots for photos as believe it or not, Leicester City Registry office is a venue I'd never photographed before!
After announcing my arrival to the venue staff, and having a little wander around, a very nervous Charlie arrived with her parents ready to tie the knot. As quickly as she arrived, we ushered her into one of the venue's side rooms ready for her interview with the registrars and out of the way of Cloe who was set to arrive within the next few minutes.
Right on cue, Cloe arrived, looking just as nervous as all their guests slowly made their way into the reception area of the venue ready to be ushered to their seats in the coming moments.
If you ever get the chance to visit the Leicester City Registry office, you'll notice plaques from past mayors, giving you a glimpse into the city's colourful past. After having a brief chat with the staff they pointed out that many of the ceremony rooms within the Leicester City Registry Office were once bustling courtrooms, where judgments were passed and decisions made. These very rooms, where justice once prevailed, have now been transformed into sanctuaries of love and commitment.
As Cloe was ushered into another side room for her pre-wedding interview with the registrars, myself and their guests made our way into the ceremony room ready for Cloe and Charlie's arrival.
The ceremony was amazing to witness, and no sooner had everyone been seated, it was time for the couple to make their way back outside for the confetti and group shots.
If there's one person who deserves a massive shout-out, its Charlie's mum. She was an absolute hero throughout the whole day. She was on hand to help me organise group shots, and did so much to make sure the day went as smoothly as possible for Charlie and Cloe.
Once we wrapped up all the obligatory formal shots, it was time for a little adventure with the newlyweds. Our destination? Castle Street, one of Leicester's time-honored gems. Stepping onto Castle Street feels like taking a trip back in time, thanks to its charming Tudor-style buildings. It was the perfect backdrop for a couple of more intimate photos.
Our next destination was the Queen of Bradgate pub, where the couple had hired out the second floor of the venue for their reception.
I'd do another wedding at the Queen of Bradgate in a heartbeat, it's an awesome venue. Whilst it is primarily a pub, it has a couple of little hidden secrets that really do make it a pleasure to photograph. Those secrets? Well first off, any venue with its own ping-pong table deserves a mention at the very least, but the best bit? It has its own vintage cinema!
The Cinema comes with everything you'd expect: Tiered seating, popcorn, and of course its own movie projector. There was no way I was passing up the opportunity to grab a few quick pictures of Cloe and Charlie sat together.
From then, it was time for speeches, the cake-cutting and the first dance. There were some beautiful moments to capture, with some real heartfelt messages from anyone who would take to the mic to declare their happiness for the newlyweds.
Cloe and Charlie were a huge laugh throughout the whole day, and their friends and family made me feel beyond welcome.
I can't wait to get to work editing their pictures so I can relive the whole day all over again.
Peace, Love and Photos.
