I live and breathe photography, whenever myself and Rach go somewhere, I'm always wishing I'd brought a camera to snap a few pics, but you'd be forgiven for thinking that's all I get up to in my spare time. When I do get a chance to switch off and relax, I've certainly got no shortage of other little hobbies that when time allows I love to get stuck into!
This week as we've got a little bit of a gap in weddings, (it's still by no means been a quiet week though!) so I thought we could explore what else I get up to and some of my other passions in life, and ultimately the person you book for your wedding.
My kids!
Less of a hobby, but never a chore, my 2 children Alice and Alfie are the apple of my eye. Alfie is my eldest and is currently 12 going on 21. Despite him firmly approaching his "Kevin" years (Harry Enfield and chums - look up Kevin the teenager!) I'm ridiculously proud of him. He's far more intelligent than his dad, will probably be twice as tall and despite what he thinks, we've got more in common than he'd maybe like to admit. He's hugely into his gaming and enjoys nothing more than a bit of downtime on his various game consoles when he's not concentrating on trying to be TikTok famous or filling his wardrobe with a wealth of trainers and designer clothes.
Then there's Alice. Alice is 9 and is shaping into one of the most incredible young ladies I've ever met. Whether it's a good thing or not, she's got my wit and sense of humour, and just like her dad has an answer for everything. I'll never tire of listening to some of the things she comes out with, and just how broad and knowing her imagination is. We love getting out together to take photos too, and she takes a real interest in photography. I've no doubt she'll probably take over one day from me, and when she does, she'll be bloody good at it too!
Myself and Alfie and Alice's mum have split up, so I don't see them anywhere as much as I'd like to, but they'll never stop being 2 of my proudest accomplishments.
Cars
My next biggest passion is cars. For as long as I can remember, cars have always captivated my attention. Be it driving them, modifying them, cleaning them or ultimately fixing them, I've always been a massive petrolhead! Long-term readers will have read all about the adventures in Ronan the Mini Cooper S (Due to be sold soon, it's going to break my heart) and I love nothing more than a road trip down some nice windy roads with some scenic views. I've recently brought a new car too, and I'm absolutely adoring driving my new Jaguar (Jaaaggggg) XF-S which really does feel like a big boy car in comparison to all the other cars I've owned. Other than photography, if you get me talking about anything with 4 wheels, ultimately, you're not going to shut me up!
Lego
When I was younger, I would spend HOURS playing with Lego. I doubt I'll ever get bored of pushing 2 plastic bricks together and I'm racking up a pretty decent collection of models which take pride of place (Much to Rach's annoyance!) in the living room. I love the Lego creator models, and I've built up quite the collection of sets, ranging from a Lego trainer, a Lego bonsai tree and of course, plenty of Lego cars! I'm currently working on a Back to the Future Lego Delorean which is going to be one of the crowning jewels in my collection.
Computers
I spend an ungodly amount of time sitting at my computer, usually editing weddings and doing business stuff, but when I'm not sorting photos, doing marketing or sending emails, me and Rach do enjoy sitting down and playing some games together. We play such a wide array of games, The Sims, Monopoly online and we've recently taken to playing through Hogwarts Legacy. Not only that though, I actually built my computer myself!

3D Printing
I don't do anywhere near as much of this as I used to, and If I'm honest, I miss it a lot. I've made tons of little models and gadgets and I find it absolutely mesmerising to watch the little printer head putting down tiny layers of plastic to eventually build up something that started off on a computer screen! At the beginning of the pandemic, I 3D printed face shields for the NHS and raised nearly £500 for charity. I ended up on local radio and got nominated for a Hero of the Year award through Radio Leicester!
Truthfully, there's so much else I get up to, but show me anything creative and I'll have a stab at it. Photography has allowed me to do something I love for a living, and capturing those genuine, happy smiles and laughter will always be something I adore doing.
A little insight into me for you there!
Don't forget next Sunday we'll be heading over to the Charnwood Arms in Coalville for their wedding Fayre. We'll be there between 10am and 3pm. Come down and have a chat with us about your plans for your big day! It'd be great to meet you!
Peace, Love and Photos.
