Places I want to visit...

Updated: Jan 7

I've touched a couple of times on some of my bucket list shots. Shot's I absolutely have to get and places I want to visit to try and capture those once-in-a-lifetime pictures. I'm going to touch on some of the ones I've actually taken to date, and some that are still are still on my list.

Maybe you can draw a little inspiration on some of these too?

Pistyll Rhaeadr - Wales

I'm not sure where I read about this place, it might even have been on some sort of travel show or on youtube, but for those of you that don't know Pistyll Rhaeadr is the highest waterfall in wales and is nestled in Powys County, right near the border to Wales and England.

I'll be the first to admit, the drive-in is a little intimidating. There's essentially one single track road in and out of the place, and as you can imagine, its quite the little tourist spot, so there's plenty of oncoming traffic that you have to facilitate, whilst being very conscious of the huge sheer drops littered with sheep on either side of the road.

When you get there though, it's definitely well worth the trip!

The day myself and Rachel visited though, the weather can only be described as appalling. To say it was lashing it down is an understatement. It POURED! I genuinely think, had I stood directly under the waterfall, I might just have been dryer.

Nevertheless, it was an incredible view. It was a good 2hr trip to get there, but I managed to get some stunning photos!

Glen Coe - Scotland

I've always been a huge James Bond Fan, and there's a scene in one of the more recent films, Skyfall, where Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are stood at the side of the road next to an Aston Martin DB5, looking at the road twisting into the distance.

On top of the awesome views, Scotland also has some sublime driving roads, and we'd love to check out the North 500, which offers amazing views and some nice twisty roads.

The view looks incredible, and since Rachel has never been to Scotland, we've often talked about going and recreating the exact same shot with the mini replacing the DB5.

The Tube - London

This is one of the ones, I have actually managed to take, and, I've featured this on my blog before, so without boring you with the same information for a second time, I'd always wanted to get a picture on one of the platforms on the Tube.

I love the way this one came out, and its been my desktop background for a little while now!

Star Trails - Anywhere!

This is one of those shots that you need the perfect conditions for. A clear night, minimal light pollution, and something impressive in the foreground to add to the picture.

I love long exposure shots, and star trails look amazing when they're done right. Myself and Rachel, have actually bought a load of camping stuff ready for when the weather warms up abit, just to go and get something like the shot I've featured below.

It'd be amazing to get something like this over the summer and get out to somewhere away from the busy day-to-day commitments and just take some awesome photos.

Long Exposure Fireworks!

This is another shot I'm fortunate enough to have got already. When bonfire night rolls around, I'd far sooner be on a muddy hill away from the crowds capturing the fireworks as they shoot up into the air and leave a trail of colours behind them.

I grabbed this shot back in 2019, when the George and Dragon in Thringstone held a display. They were so impressed, they ordered a HUGE canvas print, which is now pride of place on the wall in the pub. I'm always pleased to have my work displayed, and when you walk into a pub for a beer and see a photo I took hanging on the wall, it does make me feel proud.

So there we have it! Just a few shots I've been lucky enough to take, and some that I'm still looking for. I'm sure it won't be long till the shots I talked about are featured in one of my blogs, so watch this space!

Another busy week next week, lots of big plans and important conversations to have to get the ball rolling with the festival, so hopefully I can reveal a little bit more in next weeks blog.

Oh... and on top of all of that, I move house next Saturday!!!

Wish me luck!

Peace, Love and Photos.
