Robyn and Craig...

As August draws to a close, I always feel like it's closing time for summer. As my dad would say, it's going to start getting late....early. Sooner or later the clocks are going to go back, and it'll be a long few months before I can comfortably go out without wearing a coat.

But, let's be honest, although the weather this summer has left a lot to be desired, fingers crossed there are still a few warm sunny days in store for September and I don't have to put away the shorts just yet!

But, enough of me complaining about the weather because I want to talk about something FAR more interesting, and that's the wedding of the fabulous Robyn and Craig who got married in Saint Neots, a little town nestled away in the depths of Cambridgeshire.

Before we head into the particulars of the day though, lets just jump in and preempt everything by saying how much of an absolute powerhouse of a couple Robyn and Craig really are. Craig from the moment we met was just the most chilled-out lovely guy you could ever wish to meet. He was as cool as a cucumber all day and there didn't seem to be an ounce of nerves whatsoever. As with any self-respecting gent though, he's also the owner of a formidable beard. You just know from looking at it, the bloke can start a good fire and fell a tree just by looking at it. It's an impressive mane, and I challenge any man not to have beard envy around him!

Then there's Robyn, who was just a complete joy to be around all day. Just what you want from any bride, she gave us loads of inspirational shots beforehand, was completely relaxed, and was just an absolute delight from start to finish. Robyn was abundantly smiley the whole day, which jsut seemed to rub off on everyone she came into contact with, so you could literally just follow her around and get natural candid shots no matter who she spoke with. What more could you ask for as a photographer?!

Our time with Robyn and Craig began with coverage of the ceremony though, so when we rocked up to the church in Saint Neots, we were greeted with a lovely old church tucked right away down its own little country road.

The church was full of charm and was the perfect backdrop to the couple's ceremony. It came with everything any good church should come with, lovely stained glass windows, a cheerful vicar, and of course pews full of happy guests who were just as lovely as the newlyweds themselves.

Once the ceremony was complete, it was time for the couple and their guests to file out of the church to the sound of loudly ringing bells (which were a surprise addition for them both) for the obligatory confetti shot and a series of group shots Robyn had sent over to me ahead of the big day. We'd lucked out again with some lovely sunny skies in between the days of rain we've been having, so it was nice to soak up some much-needed sunshine with Robyn, Craig and their guests too.

Shots completed, it was time to take the short journey up the road to The Bell pub. The Bell is exactly the kind of pub you'd expect in a quiet rural village. Real ales, lots of pictures of the surrounding areas on the walls and football on the TV, but if all that wasn't enough, there was also a gazebo in the beer garden at the back which of course made the perfect place for Robyn and Craig's wedding reception.

After mingling with the guests, capturing their smiles, laughter, and flowing drinks, we decided to let everyone settle down for their meal. While they enjoyed their food, we took a moment to back up our photos and prepare for the upcoming speeches and the rest of the evening's excitement. We also took the opportunity to tuck into our own portion that the couple had kindly provided too!

Just as we got comfortable, it was time to jump back into action. Rachel and I navigated through the crowd, this time focusing on capturing the heartfelt speeches. There was a beautiful blend of sincere moments and side-splitting stories that we were truly honoured to be a part of and share with the wedding party.

With the speeches wrapped up, the energy shifted into high gear. It was a bit of a scramble to transform the gazebo for the evening reception. Tables were shuffled around, and we guided guests out into the beer garden. As the staff swiftly cleared the dancefloor, we eagerly anticipated the next memorable moments to capture, all while welcoming the arrival of the evening guests.

As the evening vibes set in, it was time for a classic move: cutting the cake. We led the couple to the cake, and with cheers from their friends and family, we snapped a few quick pics before beckoning them straight to the dance floor. It was time for their very first dance as a married duo.

Robyn and Craig completely owned it, showing off their moves as a newly hitched couple. What made it even cooler was having their own live musician – who I'm told was the same musician who played the night of their very first date! There's just something about live music that kicks up the whole atmosphere a notch.

I've got zero doubts that the rest of their evening carried the same amazing energy, but, our time had come to say our goodbyes. While we would have loved to stick around and soak in more of the festivities, every story has its chapter – and ours was drawing to a close.

The air was still buzzing with laughter, the dance floor was bound to witness even more epic moves, and the memory-making was far from over. But you know how it is – sometimes, we photographers have to fade into the background, letting the party take the lead.

That's it for this week!

I hope you have a fantastic bank holiday weekend!

Peace, Love and Photos.
