Yesterday, myself and Rachel had the absolute pleasure of photographing the wedding of Steve and Mel at the cottage hotel in Ruddington.
I always love it when I get a nice chilled out and easy going couple who really do just want to make the most out of their day rather than worrying about all the formalities. Steve and Mel are the absolute epitome of this, and I could tell right from the get go, we were just going to have the best time as they were both brimming with personality and character.
As always we arrived slightly ahead of time to have a quick word with the registrar, get a feel for the venue and to grab some photos of the guests arriving just before the ceremony was set to start.
Everyone was in high spirits, and as steve and Mel had said they wanted lots of candid photos, we set about finding lots of little places for us to tuck ourselves into so we could grab those really natural shots of their guests enjoying themselves without posing, before heading into the ceremony room for the main event!
Once we'd made our way into capture the wedding it's self and wrapped up the legalities, it was time to quickly run through the group shots we'd discussed before hand.
It was a very typical autumn day, so we were a little concerned about the weather holding out. A quick chat with Sue (the wedding organiser at the cottage hotel) with a last minute request for a spare room was exactly what we needed incase the heavens did decide to open. It wasn't heavily raining, but the drizzle certainly wouldn't have helped the days proceedings.
I didn't want everyone getting wet, so we got a handful of the group shots in our preprpepared little side room, before we took the risk and headed out for a big group shot with the whole wedding party in the grounds of the hotel. It was definitely a little cold so I wanted to get them done nice and quickly, so the guests could head back inside to the bar and so I could grab more of the candid photos Steve and Mel had requested, which were the main priority for the day.
We had a fantastic time at Steve and Mel's wedding. They're such a well suited couple, that you can just tell are completely and utterly made for each other. Both Steve and Mel have both got such infectious personalities, teamed up with a wicked sense of humour that rubs off on anyone in their company. They're 100% my kind of couple!
With them being such social people, they effortlessly command the attention of every single person around them, so it was a day completely packed full of laughs and smiles, which as a photographer, is an absolute dream.
It was a HUGE privilege to attend their wedding, and they're definitely another couple that have started as customers and left as friends!
