The Hottest Wedding Photography Trends Right Now (And Why I’d Love to Capture Them)

Wedding photography is not about stiff poses anymore. It is about energy, story and personality. Couples book me because they want photos that feel alive and modern, something they will look back on and grin at rather than a gallery of formal smiles. Right now there are some trends that I would love to capture because they not only look incredible but they give you those unforgettable moments you actually feel in your bones when you see them.
Champagne Showers Without the Mess
The champagne spray is still one of my favourites because it gives you raw reactions you cannot fake. Everyone laughs, everyone cheers, and it just looks like the perfect “we did it” moment. Done right it is not about soaking your bridesmaids, it is about that one instant where joy explodes in every direction.
Piccadilly Love Story
This is one I would be buzzing to capture. Imagine the two of you stood in Piccadilly Circus sharing a moment while the whole city rushes past in a blur. Neon lights, people streaming everywhere, and you completely locked in on each other. That kind of shot turns a wedding portrait into a piece of art, and it is the sort of photo that makes you stop scrolling.

Direct Flash After Dark
When the party is in full swing, sneaking outside for five minutes and hitting you with a bold flash can transform a quick portrait into something that looks like a celebrity afterparty. These shots are cool, moody and confident. They stand out a mile from the softer sunset shots and give your gallery a totally different edge.
The Wine Grab
This idea makes me laugh every time. Put a bottle on the ground, line up the bridal party, and shout go. The scramble, the reactions, the laughter — it is natural, it is fun, and it makes for a set of photos you will never stop smiling at. Nobody ruins their outfit, nobody gets drenched, it is just harmless chaos and guaranteed personality.
Long Exposure Magic
Long exposure is one of the most creative trends I would love to shoot more of. Imagine you both standing perfectly still while sparklers, car lights or even city traffic move around you, creating trails of light in the background. It feels modern, romantic and magical all at once, and it gives you images that are completely unique.
Destination Dreams Close and Far
I am always up for destinations, whether it means hopping on a plane or just taking the train a little further. Amalfi Coast lemon groves, Iceland waterfalls and New York streets would all be a dream, but so would a sunrise elopement on a Cornish clifftop or a couple framed by Edinburgh Castle. The backdrop becomes part of the story, turning a personal moment into something epic.
Why These Ideas Matter
The reason these wedding photography trends are everywhere right now is because they give couples something different. They are stylish, fun, bold and personal all at the same time. And the reason I would love to shoot them? Because they keep me creative, they excite me, and they give you a wedding gallery that you will be proud to show off for years.
If any of these ideas make you think “that’s us,” then let’s talk. Your wedding might just be the one that helps me tick them off my list.
