A VERY magical Engagement Shoot!

Updated: Jan 7

I've been waiting to talk about this engagement shoot for a while, but this particular shoot was a little bit different and was honestly so much fun. I always try to wait until I've handed over the photos to my couples till I write my blogs, and as you'll find out, this one took me a little bit longer to edit than my usual run-of-the-mill engagement shoot, as this wedding is Harry Potter themed!

As we know, I like a story, so I'm going to do my best to do JK Rowling proud and talk about the awesome Ben and Laura's engagement photos, which are sprinkled with their own magical charm and very spooky location (probably dripping with dark magic!).

So, our story begins around a month or so ago now, when Laura messaged me (A letter didn't quite burst through a fireplace and swirl around the living room, but let's pretend it did for the purpose of the story) looking for a photographer. When laura first reached out she was just looking for quotes, and it was the same as any other wedding enquiry.

As we chatted, Laura told me she'd been struggling to find a photographer (They were probably all muggles anyway 😉), as what she really wanted was Harry Potter-themed photos to go along with the theme of their wedding. Now, I'll never turn a challenge down, in fact, I'll admit, I was really excited about the prospect when Laura decided to book with me.

As is standard with any of my wedding day packages, Laura and Ben also took me up on my offer of a free engagement shoot, so we got to work discussing locations, finding our nearest port-keys, and planning the safest routes away from any death eaters. We eventually settled on Grace Dieu ruins, as I thought it would be the perfect setting for some dark and moody photos.

So the day rolled around (Quite possibly one of the hottest of the year so far!!) and myself, Rachel, Ben, and Laura met up at the nearest port key to the ruins, which is incidentally is just outside the Bulls Head Pub, who knew?

Laura and Ben both threw themselves into the shoot massively, they'd bought their wands, which were an absolute must, and a plethora of different props we could use in photos. I even got the chance to bring out some smoke bombs just to add that little creative flair to the pictures.

As we parted ways, I asked Laura for permission to go crazy in photoshop. I really wanted to add some special effects and dress the photos so they looked like they'd been hand-picked straight out of the books themselves.

All in all, we got some amazing shots. Laura and Ben are an awesome couple, and it was an absolute pleasure getting to know them. I can't wait for their wedding and already definitely count them as friends.

I'll let the pictures do the talking, and leave you all to enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Peace, Love, and Photos.
